Letter From The Secretary General

DeMUN II Delegates and Advisors,

My name is Marilyn Goodridge and I have the privilege of serving as Secretary-General for the second annual DePaul Model United Nations Conference, DeMUN II, taking place on April 18, 2026.

After eight years in Model UN, I’ve experienced many types of conferences, committees, and leadership styles. But helping create DeMUN from the ground up has been the most meaningful part of that journey. This conference represents more than just a weekend of debate. It reflects what is possible when students take ownership of their learning, step into leadership roles, and challenge themselves to think globally.

DeMUN was built with delegates in mind. Our goal is to provide a space where students can sharpen their skills in diplomacy, negotiation, and public speaking while also learning to navigate real-world issues with depth and nuance. We know that every delegate enters the room with different levels of experience, so we’ve created committees and training materials that support growth at every stage.

What makes DeMUN distinct is not just the content of the debate, but the environment we aim to foster. This is a space where your ideas will be taken seriously, where collaboration is valued, and where you will be encouraged to lead with both confidence and respect. Whether this is your first conference or your fifteenth, there is room to grow here.

Personally, DeMUN has shaped my time at DePaul in a way I didn’t expect. It has pushed me to be a better leader, taught me how to build and manage a team, and helped me connect with a wide range of students and faculty across disciplines. For those of you thinking about your next steps after high school, I hope this conference gives you a glimpse of the kind of academic and community experience DePaul has to offer.
